So what’s the best paintball gun out there?
So what defines a good paintball gun? There are thousands of requests every month asking "What is the best paintball gun out there?". First of all, there is no best paintball gun. "Best" is all relative to each and every person - the manufacturers know they can't please every person, so they tend to target a certain age group by improving their latest gun model's feature to the maximum.
Take Tippmann, for example. Notice how they're one of the leading paintball manufacturers on the market today - and they have yet to release a "high-end" paintball gun. Why is this, are they stupid? No. Tippmann markers are targeted more towards the Beginners and Scenario paintball players. Tippmann focuses more on its reliability; since their guns usually take more of a beating.
So, to answer our original question of what makes the best paintball gun; we will never really know. Even if a company makes a paintball marker with the best accuracy, best reliability, and the best upgrade-ability, there will always be a group of players that just don't like the looks, or they had a bad experience with it, or they just think it's too expensive.
When deciding which gun you'll want to buy in the near future, do a little research (read reviews, watch videos, etc) on the markers that interest you most. Determine what kind of paintball game you will be playing - whether it's speedball, woodsball, or scenerio; look into the top 3 best rated paintball guns and then see which one is best for you.
Things to consider and research when buying a new paintball gun:
Accuracy
Gas-efficiency
Upgrade Ability
Value (how much will it resell for used?)
Don't let any manufacturer's marketing allow you to believe that they have created the "best paintball gun ever". Good luck on the field.

a gun is all just personal preference. go to the field and ask somebody if you can shoot their gun. most of the time somebody would be proud to show off their gun. if you like it, get it. but if its not perfect…

There are alot of good guns out there. The best will have to depend on your opinion, but out of all the guns i have shot it would be the spyder vs3 or the dye dm7 . the dye is probly better but the vs3 is a pretty good gun , i havent shot that many guns and ive got the spyder vs2 and its i good all around gun. also, i got the rocky trigger on my vs2 ,not tornament legal but it is shotting pretty fast.when you buy a gun you are lookin for the best but the cheapest and some guns are cheap and good . one of my favorite ones that is on the cheap side about $120 the JT tetre or protium markersare in the range…

Tippmann released the Triumph series recently. It is targeted to the beggining paintball-er and fairly inexpensive. Requires very little of maintenance. Still, personal preferance…

I would recommend Tippmann 98 custom pro. Get a 16 inch barrel for another $35 at amazon, and you are all set.
Easy to maintain, accurate, can be modified for any game.
For instance, I have FAMAS version. I simply cut off a bunch of stuff off it and put it in airsoft shell. AWESOME!!! My best gun ever. Whole thing cost me about…lets see… $225. You may go for starter kit for $175, but it’s a waste of money, cause barrel and mask suck anyways.
Just make sure that your barrel matches paintballs you’ll buy. That’s extremely importent.

I am also a beginner paintballer and i want to buy a cheap but quality paintball marker for mainly speedball. I was thinking about the smart parts vibe. they’re cheap, accurate, and reliable, but they lack upgradability. Im thinking about just buying it and a new barrel, and save up for a better marker when i am more experienced.
p.s. i was thinking about the 98 custom, too, but like the post said they’re not for speed ball. you can find upgrades for it to modify it for speedball, but i would end up paying twice the cost of the marker itself. So im sticking with the vibe.

Tippmann X-7. Just bought mine, out of the box (stock) is an awsome gun. Lot’s of modes and my research has proved it a great all around gun.

My boyfriend is really into paintballing, and has a few guns right now but always talks about wanting to upgrade. He is very competitive and very hard core when it comes to paintball, and so I am hoping for someone who knows a little more than me to know what is a great gun for him? He does outdoor most of the time but now is getting into indoor too. Any ideas? I see in his favorites he has Tippman A5 guns up , any of those better than the others over all?

I have been paintballing for many years now and ive only had tippmann markers. Best thing out there no doubt. If ur going to but an X-7 dont get the e grip in it cause it jus t messes up the gun most of the time and then u have to watch all day. I have an A-5 modified to look like an M4 and it is amazing!!!. A 98 is probably the best low cost/ low maintanince gun out there.
And if u want a speedball gun get a halo hopper or something of the automatic is useless.
